Hopi Ear Candling
40mins ear candling+face massage
Allow extra 30 mins for consultation and relaxation at the end of the treatment
Hopi Ear candling is also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy and was used in native America, Asia, Ancient Greece and the Siberian prairies. Some people believe the native North American Hopi Indians (the name means peaceful people) lent their name to the modern practice. Ear candling was used by Shaman healers in the rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe (ancient wall paintings were found in the caves of the Grand Canyon).
The candles are made from natural ingredients of unbleached cotton and beeswax. In some cases therapeutic oils are added.
Ear candles have a purely physical function. A light suction action (chimney effect) and the movement of the flame create a vibration of air in the ear candle, generating a massage-like effect on the eardrum. This induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses.
Ear candles do not draw up hard and compacted earwax into the candle, but they help to loosen it. They may pull up a small amount of flaky wax, dead skin cells or yeast cells from the very exterior part of the ear. The treatment may also cause freer nasal breathing and an improved sense of smell, even when the nose was blocked before the treatment. Clients also reported clearer hearing after ear candling.
This treatment is detoxifying and still working in the body up to 48 hours after burning of the ear candles. Like most therapies a single session may bring some benefits or easing of a condition, but for a chance of sustained improvement 2 or 3 treatments are generally recommended.
