Reiki Treatment

Allow extra 30 mins for consultation and relaxation at the end of the treatment

Reiki means universal life force energy in Japanese. By using the hands in certain positions on different parts of the body, the therapist draws energy to the body, promoting healing, balance and relaxation.

This therapy is conducted with the client lying on the table fully clothed, tight belts and shoes should be removed for the clients comfort and the client is covered with a blanket. I will advise the client to close their eyes and relax; I can include a guided mediation to help facilitate this if required.

History of Reiki

Reiki begin with a man called Mikao Usui who was born in Japan in 1864. During his meditation he had a flash of inspiration or what could be called enlightenment. And from that moment he used Reiki on himself, his family and friends. In 1921 Usui opened a clinic. Reiki began to spread after a earthquake in 1923, when he took his healing practice into the streets of Japan.

After his death in 1926 Chujiro Hayashi, a student of Usui, developed the class structure for teaching Reiki and divided it into three levels.

Hawayo Takata, Hayashi’s student, opened her own clinic in Hawaii. She taught Reiki in Canada, Europe and the United States. After her death in 1980, Reiki divided into Japanese and American branches followed by further divisions.

I personally believe that “Reiki” as powerful energy healing was used a long time before these people were born and the name Reiki was invented. I believe, that in the times before modern civilization and the growth of western medicine, everybody was able to use their energy for healing.
